Haven’t written much lately because I haven’t had any thoughts I wanted to flesh out. I’ve been in a mode of taking in some info and doing some leather working.
So, for info – just paying attention to what’s going on as we get nearly a month away from the climax of the presidential election that includes Kamala Harris, and some old guy. I gave a bit of a take recently (what is recent in how fast big new things happen) but after sitting on it for longer, I’m optimistic enough for this go-round, especially if the justice department gains momentum in dismantling the Russian/GOP/General Wealth interference in elections. Hell, Rush was talking about the money it when I was a wee babe.
What else is good? Issue 1 in Ohio, baby! A LaRose by any other name would Frankly smell just as shitty as this clown. The language in the bill is irrelevant due to more GOP shenanigans and the important part is to vote Y E S on 1 to try to make progress. I’ve also seen people picking up on some of the things I’ve shared in having seen people sharing points about ending gerrymandering and enacting ranked choice voting in the same breath. Of course, the escalated GOP attacks on education are bringing up a lot of talk about defending that. I know I’m not speaking anything new, but to see what I think are some of the most foundationally important items being top of mind in people other than me offers some nice validation and hope!!
What am I listening to? Well, I split between podcasts and audio books when I’m doing leatherwork (when I don’t feel like listening to some Soundgarden, Danheim, or random D&D adventure playlists). Outside of current events (kind of), I just finished up The Ancestor’s Tale by Richard Dawkins and want to re-read The Selfish Gene before moving on to his newest work The Genetic Book of the Dead: A Darwinian Reverie. I’d been put off by him just always being wrapped up in that militant atheism (no shade, it was a moment in the early-modern internet, early/mid-00’s). Surprise, his great work in his foundational evolutionary biology takes for a layman are just great. I remember The Selfish Gene totally changing my train of thought after reading it and looking at about everything a little differently, in what I think is a positive way. Podcasts have been most things coming out of Cool Zone Media and a few others.
Lastly, I’ll just point out that state terrorism by Israel isn’t better than terrorism by Hamas. I hate these takes that if you’re shitting on Israel you’re pro-hamas. Creating more terrorists with nothing left but revenge is as short-sighted as when the current situation was set up last century.
